Find a Cure

Today is an odd day for me — it is the 3rd anniversary of our daughter’s diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes. Although she is an extraordinary little girl, who deals with an average 8 pokes per day to test, an insulin pump attached to her 24/7 and site changes for that pump every 3 days, and is doing amazingly well in all ways, the anniversary of her diagnosis always brings back a ton of emotions for me. It is just another day for her, as she is too little to even understand what diabetes even means. In honor of my sweet, amazing little girl, here is my card today:

I inked up my Inky Impressions LiLi’s Awareness Ribbon stamp for the first time. A portion of the procedes from this stamp go to the American Diabetes Association (as well as the National Breast Cancer Foundation). I used Mercy’s sketch (MTSC65) for this week and the DCRU challenge #30 — use the colors found in the My Mind’s Eye Lush collection (oh, how I need to get some of this paper!). I chose pink & red, which I paired with Basic Gray (the color of the diabetes awareness ribbon). I colored LiLi with Copics, making her über-cute in pink & red overalls. Her mat is cut from the two largest Big Scalloped Ovals from each set. I cut an additional scalloped oval and sponged it with Memento Angel Pink before handwriting “find a cure”. The final touches were some Christmas Red Stickles for a drop of blood on the ribbon and some sparkle to her head band.

As a bonus, here is a picture of my ridiculously adorable daughter, who says she is “smart, strong & brave.” She is most certainly all of those things! (We were having smile issues this morning — either this or really cheesy!)

  1. Awww, Cammy, she is so cute! I just want to pick her up and hug her. My girls would love a playdate with your little princess. Bekah would tell her she was a princess because her hair is long and gorgeous!

Oh, you made a card too…hehehe. Love your card. It is a wonderful image and I think I'm going to have to go pick one up and help support the cause.

BTW! I know somebody who sells the MME Lush papers…hehehe!

    Smiles!

Being a photographer for several years now…I can tell you it is the age…super cheesy or a soft simply expression, however I must say she is so adorable she could stick her tongue out and it would still be perfection!!!

Your card is Super fabulous!! Love everything about it!!

Thanks for sharing both of your sweeties with DCRU this week!!
