Ribbon Heart Tree

I am excited and honored to be showcased this weekend on the Die Cuts R Us Design Team blog!! Thanks Gwen & Claudia! If you haven’t checked out the DCRU DT blog or the DCRU store, you really need to. The DT offers great tutorials — this week alone awesome Copic coloring and ribbon weaving (can NOT wait to try this) tutorials– fun challenges and some great inspiration. The store — I’ve mentioned this before and it isn’t lip service — Claudia offers some of the best prices I’ve seen and fantastic customer service. If you haven’t been there before — GO (after you read my post, of course!)!

Remember my Heart of Ribbon card I did a few weeks ago? Well, I loved the result and I had a fantastic response to it. I decided to make some more, but ones that would be used for decorations.

This time, instead of using Target $ spot ribbon, I used some lovely May Arts ribbon from the DCRU store. My first pick was the pink/light pink two band ribbon. As I did with the card heart, I lined my paper with adhesive (I use the Glue Glider Pro & High Tac — love them!) and alternated the ribbon, creating 1/2″ wide bands of color. After I filled one side, I flipped it over and repeated the process. Since I was using these as decorations, I wanted them to be double sided. I then cut them out with my heart Nestabilities using my Cuttlebug. Since they were double sided, I ran them through twice to make the cut a bit deeper. These do require that you cut them out. I punched a hole with my Crop-a-dile and used pink ric rac to hang them. Easy, quick, and budget-friendly Valentine decorations!
