I have to admit that I had shied away from The Greeting Farm stamps. Anya & Ian were cute, but not really my style (*ducking*). Then they released the Twinkle Tots last year and I fell in love. After purchasing two of them, I was totally impressed by the thickness of the bare rubber and the beautiful stamped image. I hope they come out with more adorable tots.
The Die Cuts R Us challenge this week is to use your leftover patterned paper from the holidays to make a new project. I didn’t do a lot of card making for the holidays, but the Christmas Countdown Calendar used a lot of paper and left a lot of scraps. This was the perfect challenge for me (especially if you would see my scrap drawers!).
I really liked the K&Company Secret Santa designer papers I used for the calendar. There is a nice mix of traditional and non-traditional papers for the holidays. For my project, I chose The Greeting Farm’s Princess Ava Twinkle Tot. Since the frog is involved, I knew this green striped paper would fit perfectly. To bring in a bit more blue, I paired the dp with Bermuda Bay before mounting it on a Green Galore card base. Princess Ava is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. I went with a fun color combo of B06 and YG06. I love the bright pop of green.
After coloring Ava in, I decided to cut her out with the Labels 7 Nestabilities, making it appear as a book. The book needed some words, so I typed “once upon a time, a princess kissed a frog…” in Lucida Handwriting and printed it out. I then cut out the text with the next size down Nestie. The page edges are painted with Smooch in Moonlight. I added some Star Dust Stickles to Princess Ava’s tiara and dress. For the final touches, I added Glitter Dots, some buttons and some yummy double-sided satin ribbon, which also qualifies this card for the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge this week to use buttons & bows.
Inside I finished my sentence with “…and she found her prince.” and cut that out with the Labels 7 Nestie as well. I added another layer of Bermuda Bay with an accent of the designer paper.
Since I thought this would make a cute card for my husband, I decided to add a little treat box of Kisses.
I used an acrylic box I had received some ribbon in and using a bit more of the K&Co paper, I created a band. An additional Princess Ava completed the look.
This might find a way into my husband’s work bag as a surprise. Now, if I can only make sure that my husband doesn’t think I am calling him a frog! 🙂
