Playing with Core’dinations

I will be very spoiled this week — my husband is on vacation, which is great. The kids are out of school for the second week and my daughter keeps asking when she goes to school. I hope to remember this when she is a teen and not wanting to go to school. 🙂

One of my presents from my husband was The Chocolate Box Core’dinations paper. I had never used Core’dinations and had seen so many beautiful results with Cuttlebug folders. A good friend’s birthday was today, so yesterday I set out to play with my new paper and make her a card.

I chose Patricia Birthdaycake from Stamping Bella for my image – I really love the Chichiboulie fairies – and MOJO 116 for my layout. From my Core’dinations pack, I picked out two pretty blues for my color pallett. Patricia is colored with Copics. Her wings are painted with Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz and her skirt is covered in Distress Stickles in Broken China. I hadn’t intended to go over her entire skirt with the Stickles, but my tip was cut down a bit too far and it oozed a bit too much, so I used a paint brush to spread it over the entire area.

I used Nesties to cut out two circles, which were each embossed with Cuttlebug folders. Three Cuttlebug folders were used — D’Vine Swirls, Textile and Victoria. I sanded the embossed pieces a bit, but not all the way down to the chocolate on the reverse. The card base is Chocolate Chip, which makes a nice contrast. Before putting down all of my circles, I added some double sided satin May Arts ribbon. Inside is matted with a piece of white and the sentiment “Have a fairy nice birthday.”
