Recipe Saturday

Happy Saturday! We are in for a pretty rotten weather weekend here. Unfortunately, our weekend started off on a bad note. Instead of going out for our anniversary, we spent the night in, nursing our daughter’s double ear infection. Given that she has Type 1 diabetes, our “normal” days are always quickly complicated by things like this. Hopefully, she will be on the mend tomorrow. I definitely missed her smiles & giggles today. With any luck, she’ll be back to herself & I’ll get some crafting in as well.

On to business…

I have three 6×6 recipe cards to share with you today. I recently participated in two 6×6 recipe swaps on SCS. The first was a fritter swap. Now, I must confess, I’ve never made a fritter before, but I trying to help out a friend and fill a spot for her. I found this recipe on Food Network and it had decent reviews & an easier rating. Another confession — I am terrible with measurements. I knew the recipe card was 6×6, but this recipe was far too long for that card. In order to use the recipe and fit all of the necessary information on the card, I needed to do a pocket card.

Using Groovy Guava, Very Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip, I came up with a really simple and sophisticated layout. Coupling some Berry Bliss dp with this was a great touch. In order to accommodate the longer and in depth recipe, I made two recipe cards – one for the ingredients and one for the directions.

The next recipe was much simpler and didn’t require extra pockets. This was another of my friend’s swaps, but all for apple recipes. I can’t wait to see what I get back. I love apple crisp and this is a yummy variation using Nilla wafers.

I love this October Afternoon paper and paired it with Kraft and . I made an apple out of a big red button & a loop of striped green May Arts ribbon. This was much simpler & quicker than the pocket cards.

Finally, my last recipe was for a football themed swap. I took one spot in the appetizer group and this recipe for mushroom roll-ups is super easy & super yummy.

This was a super quick & simple layout, using some great football paper, ribbon & a brad.
