N is for Numbers

I seem to have lost my senses a bit. After completing my I is for Ice Skates pages, I posted in the thread how happy I was to be done. Shortly after my post, the hostess posted that a swapper had dropped out. Since it has been a challenge to get these spots filled up (there are still open spots today — if you are a Sesame Street fan or have a fan in your house — go here to check it out), I started thinking about a second spot. I went to bed late — after 1 AM, thinking about the layout for another page. The next morning, I got up and signed up for a second spot, hoping that I wasn’t going to regret it.

I knew for this second spot, I had to take an easier road than Elmo & Zoe. When I realized that N was open and I had the Count & the Cuttlebug Numbers Collage embossing folder, it all came together. I have to say Handsome Hunter and Perfect Plum are not my favorite colors alone, but I really like how they work together. Within the day I had the squares cut and embossed. I had all of the rectangles for the Count cut out — I was on a roll. This page went together so much easier than the I page. It must be the experience I gained.
After stamping the Count on the small rectangles, I colored him with Copics. His beard & hair are colored with a Prisma pencil. I am so happy that I used only a portion of his stamp. Since Mary (the hostess) is binding these, we had to leave 3/4″ on the left side free of embellishment for binding. I asked her about the ribbon and she said it would be okay. Of course, since I rarely use Handsome Hunter, I didn’t have ribbon. I also didn’t have the buttons in colors I needed. I also wanted to put a button or two on here, but didn’t have enough green. Two small online shopping trips later, I had the pieces needed to complete the card. I have to rave about both places — the cool number buttons are from Buttons Galore & More. I bought some additional buttons that I want to color & cost compare. The grosgrain is from Pink Hedgehog Papercrafts and I will definitely be ordering from her again. Fantastic prices, products and super quick shipping.

By the end of the week, I had everything in my hands to assemble these pages. I used a Cuttlebug slider for my N. I’m very happy with the way these turned out. These came together so easily that one other swapper joked I should take a 3rd spot. Um, no… two will be plenty! I have other craziness to attend to — like A-Z recipe swaps.
