A Long Way to Travel

This gift set has a long way to travel — all the way to the Tigris Sea.  One of the ladies from our swap group is over there for work and just had a birthday.  Mary has talked about the sandstorms they have — horrible sandstorms you can’t see through — and the ridiculous heat — 110°+ temperatures.  In the hopes of fending off some of effects of all that sand & heat, I’m sending her a set of hand lotion, hand soap and a mini-reed diffuser.
This set is just like the ones I made for two other girls, but a touch smaller.  I followed the same format — cutting two pieces of cardstock from 12×12 and scoring at 1 1/2, 7 1/2 and 8 1/2.  To decorate it, I embossed one piece of Gable Green with the Cuttlebug Textile folder and two smaller pieces with the Swiss Dots folder.  The sign is from Rupa Shevde’s Perfectly Polished set available from Gina K.  I love that you can personalize it with different sayings.  Those yummy brads are from Recollections — a brand you can find at Michaels.  They have sets of pearlized, rhinestone & glittery brads in a number of colors.  I added some chocolate grosgrain ribbon and what is slowly becoming my signature bow.
The accompanying card is the same layout, but with a different greeting on the sign.  Since I know Mary wasn’t able to take many supplies with her, I included a packet of stamped holiday images for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Hopefully the gift set will make it in one piece and come in handy.
