How I Got My Groove Back

A bit of back story — Tuesday night, while she should have been sleeping, my daughter Ainsley decided to get in to a few things. Two things she did was to paint her face with my mascara and go into my jewelry box. This is the second time she went into my jewelry box and the first time resulted in a broken pearl necklace. This time she didn’t get anything, thankfully. She wanted to be a princess. I explained to her that she could do dress-up during the day, but not when she was sleeping. I told her I would make her a box for dress-up. She interpreted this as a jewelry box.

Yesterday at Michaels I picked up this cute box. Ainsley gave it her approval and requested lots of hearts. I hoped that my MIA/lacking Mojo would cooperate with this project.

I think this turned out so cute. I painted it white with acrylic paint first. Then I used the fabulous My Favorite Things Bling ‘Bet to stamp her name in Pink Passion. I blinged the letters up, alternating between rhinestones and pearls. How many non-famous almost-4 year olds can claim to have a stash of “diamonds & pearls”? LOL!

I then used the PaperTrey Ink Heart Prints set to stamp hearts on the sides and lid. I randomly applied rhinestones to the polka dot hearts. (Now I need to replenish my rhinestone supply.) The larger pink rhinestones on the lid were from Michaels dollar bins. To finish it off, I added some pink polka dot ribbon to the handle and inside the heart. I used the fantastic fork tutorial for the little bows.

I sense a squeal coming from Ainsley when I give her the box later this morning. Now hopefully, she won’t pull the rhinestones off and she will stay out of my jewelry box.
