Secret Sister Swap

I just finished a 3 month Secret Sister swap on SCS. It was my first and tons of fun. I had a great time spoiling by SS, Colleen (clln). Since I altered or made something each month, I wanted to share them here.

In March, I sent Colleen a Target mailbox, which you would be amazed at what it can hold. I filled it with all sorts of embellishments in her favorite colors of purple and green. The DP is from K&Company Sparkly Sweet and is so pretty.

I had been eying so many of Lauren Meader’s My Timeless Templates and finally bought some before sending out Colleen’s April package. One of the things that Colleen was interested in, but didn’t have was a Cuttlebug. I used the Filed With Flair template and made up three holders. One held stamped images, another Nestabilities – the cuts, not the dies, and another was Cuttlebugged sheets.

I also included two of the Perfect Matchbox for Colleen. All of these continued with the purple & green theme.

Included with the package were Koh-i-Noor pencils and blending stumps; Prima flowers and a Quickie glue pen. Also included were some MRI (“Mojo Recovery Impulses” — I came up with that myself. Pretty good, huh?!) I should mention that Colleen is expecting and has been craving Sour Patch Kids and what pregnant woman doesn’t like chocolate.

When I received Colleen’s name and saw that she was expecting, I knew I wanted her third and final package to be a baby themed package. I had made some “baby’s first” onesies for a baby shower last summer and loved the way they came out. Instead of stamping directly on the fabric, I stamped on iron-on transfer paper and colored the images. I didn’t want to risk screwing up the images on the onesies.

The box was just a regular gift box that I covered. The onesie is from Papertrey Ink’s Bitty Baby Blessings set. To complete this gift set, I put together a scrapbook for the first year. Nichole Heady had this idea on her blog a while ago and I adapted it for an 8×8 album. I left the month off of the calendar pages, in case the little one decided to come earlier or later than expected.

Colleen has a little boy, who is 2. I wanted to send something for him, so I used Lauren’s All Wrapped Up template and created a coloring kit. I could have been more pleased with how this turned out and it was so incredibly simple.

One side was filled with a box of crayons and the other was filled with fun animal images. I googled animal coloring pages — found a great site, saved, resized and printed. Colleen said her son was thrilled with it and wouldn’t even let his dad see it. 🙂 That super fun paper is from DCWV Animal Crackers.

Of course, I completely bypassed the $10 minimum, but it is so much fun to spoil someone — especially when they appreciate it. Colleen’s responses each month made it so worth it. I received my last package today from my SS Cara and it was fantastic. I’ll have to take a picture of the adorable desk organizer she included — as well as some gorgeous hat pins! Now I’m moving on to my Not So Secret Sweet 16 swap. I just matched up the names over the weekend and can’t wait to get started again.

I actually have a card to share tomorrow. Check out my new siggy! That awesome siggy is courtesy of Lauren. Thank you Lauren!

Thanks for stopping by!
