A Bit of News & Sympathy

First a bit of news: My card I submitted for the Paper Pretties Cutie Pie contest WON! I was and still am absolutely flabbergasted and completely honored. This was an amazing weekend for me stamping-wise. I have managed to make 4 cards. Saturday morning I woke up to read on Jessica’s blog that my number came up in the random integer generator for the Bling it On challenge. For that, I won a set of my choice from their new release. I chose Blessings. Saturday night during their release party on PCP, I answered one of the scavenger hunt questions and won the Holidays Mini set that was just released. Then to top it off and win the Cutie Pie contest — I went to bed with a smile on my face last night. For winning the Cutie Pie contest, I will receive the Love You This Much set featuring Cooper. Thinking about it all makes me smile!

On to today’s card…

Unfortunately, I needed to make a sympathy card. My mom’s best friend lost her mom last Sunday. February will likely be a difficult month for her going forward – over the past 6 years, she has lost her father (’03), her husband (’04) and now her mother (’09), all in the month of February. Her mom was a wonderful lady, very classy and incredibly generous with her time.

For the card I used Papertrey Ink’s With Sympathy set. The set has some beautiful images, but what I really love about it are the sentiments and quotes. The “with sympathy” comes from Out on a Limb. Inside is stamped with a sentiment from With Sympathy – one of my favorites: “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

Stamps: Papertrey Ink With Sympathy, Out on a Limb Sentiments
Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla and PTI Sweet Blush
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Palette Toile Pink
Other Stuff: PTI Sweet Blush satin ribbon
